In the movie Epidemiya (2019), an unknown virus has ravaged Moscow, turning it into a city of the dead. The once bustling city is now devoid of electricity, and money has lost all value. The few people who remain uninfected are engaged in a desperate struggle for food and fuel. Among them is Sergei, the film's main character, who resides outside the city with his loved one and her autistic son.

Despite the safety of their remote location, Sergei embarks on a risky journey back to Moscow to rescue his ex-wife and their son, even though she harbors deep animosity towards him. This unlikely reunion forces them to put aside their past conflicts and work together as they embark on a treacherous expedition to the north. Their goal is to find an isolated hunting lodge on a deserted island, where they hope to find solace amidst the chaos.

Epidemiya (2019) is a gripping family drama set against the backdrop of a global disaster. It stands out as one of the first post-apocalyptic TV shows in Russia and is based on the critically acclaimed novel, Vongozero, written by Yana Vagner and translated into multiple languages. The renowned actress Maryana Spivak, known for her standout performance in the award-winning film Loveless by Andrei Zvyagintsev, takes on one of the pivotal roles in the movie.
